Local Idiot Launches Media Empire From '06 Toyota

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE — Defying logic, financial prudence, and the laws of thermodynamics, local resident, Drew, has officially launched Henlopen Free Press, an independent digital media initiative headquartered in the front seat of a 2006 Toyota.

The project began as a single idea — to create a home for free thinkers, satirists, and seekers of truth — and has grown into a small but expanding constellation of digital ventures, including Boardwalk Barker, Insight Puzzles, Spiraling Shapes Podcast, and Kensho Coffee & Fine Teas.

Frustrated with the decline of independent voices and inspired by a belief that humor can still tell the truth, Drew founded Henlopen Free Press.  “People keep saying the media is broken,” Drew said. “So I figured, why not build a new one from scratch — with duct tape, an old laptop, and a little naivety?”

Asked about his long-term goals, Drew said, “I want to prove that one person with a cheap laptop, a working sense of humor, and a mild disregard for authority can still make something meaningful — even if it’s only meaningful to the dog in the passenger seat.”

The launch marks the official debut of Boardwalk Barker, a satire outlet covering “The East Coast’s most important news and self-important opinions.” Early coverage includes breaking stories such as ‘President Declares Plate Tectonics a Democratic Hoax.’

Critics have called the launch “a bold experiment in digital self-sabotage.” Supporters have called it “refreshing, authentic, and delightfully unhinged.” Drew calls it “just Monday.”
