Area Man NOT Robbed in Baltimore- “It Was a Pleasant Change”

I even asked a stranger for directions. He just told me. Nobody demanded my wallet.

By Carmine Schwartz  |  News Correspondent

BALTIMORE — In a shocking break from long-held statistical tradition, 47-year-old Lewes resident Dennis Callahan spent a full six hours in Baltimore on Saturday without being robbed, threatened, or emotionally shaken.

“I walked around with my phone out,” Callahan reported in mild disbelief, “and nothing happened. I even asked a stranger for directions. He just told me. Nobody demanded my wallet. Nobody snatched my bag. I thought maybe I had died and this was Heaven.”

Baltimore police confirmed the anomaly, noting that Callahan’s experience marked the city’s first documented robbery-free tourist visit since 1998.

“He didn’t even get lightly menaced,” said Sgt. Alonzo McCray. “Usually we can count on at least one guy yelling ‘Ayy yo lemme hold dat’ within 20 minutes of arrival.”

Callahan says he plans to return someday.

“But not too soon,” he added cautiously. “I don’t want to push my luck.”
