WAHINGTON DC - In what officials are calling a “historic diplomatic reset,” a U.S. negotiating team led by J.D. Vance, Jared Kushner, and Marco Rubio announced Tuesday that they had successfully renegotiated the Treaty of Paris, securing several key concessions from Great Britain that had previously been obtained in 1783.
The original agreement, long criticized by President Trump as “one of the worst deals ever made,” had granted the United States independence from British rule. Officials said the decision to abandon the deal created an opportunity to “come back to the table and get something better.”
Among the major victories: Britain has once again agreed not to tax Americans without representation, to allow free importation of tea, and to refrain from stopping U.S. ships and forcing sailors into the Royal Navy.
In exchange, U.S. negotiators signed what they described as a “Declaration of Dependence,” formally restoring the American colonies to British authority while preserving what one official called “the appearance of having negotiated from a position of strength.”
“The old deal was terrible,” one official said. “We gave up control of the colonies and got almost nothing in return.”
“This time, we made sure to get the exact same concessions—but with far more leverage," declared a proud JD Vance.
“People said it couldn’t be done,” added Kushner. “But we proved you can, in fact, renegotiate the American Revolution.”
Historians described the agreement as “a remarkable step backward,” noting that the United States had previously resolved these disputes through a combination of war, diplomacy, and basic understanding of leverage.
